Primo Sport Management Team
Don Sandusky, Technology and Product Development
In 1990, Don earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at U. Maine, then went on to a full time Graduate Student fellowship at NASA Langley Research Center, earning his Ph.D. in Materials Science at the College of William & Mary. Although his thesis was hard work, he would say it was all easier than plowing snow, splitting wood and picking potatoes up in Northern Maine, where he grew up. He never looked back when DuPont asked him to commercialize his thesis work in carbon fiber reinforced plastic composites, and within a year it was done. For the better part of the next decade, Don held a rapid succession of corporate roles advancing up the ranks. When a huge corporate restructuring left a third of DuPont’s people outside looking in, he quietly slipped away to reinvent himself again. Today, Don spends his days (and many nights) creating and testing products for Primo Sport.
Jeff Duback, Sales and Marketing
Jeff has sports in his blood – especially soccer. Even before he attended Yale University, where he received a degree in Economics, Jeff had achieved the highest level in soccer – playing with both the Youth National Team in the 1983 Youth World Cup (Mexico City) and the full US National Team. He later played with the 1988 US Olympic Team (Seoul, Korea) and participated with the 1990 US World Cup team, earning “US goal keeper of the decade” – 1980’s.
Jeff also has been impressive in his off field career. In 1991 he went to work with Umbro as Product Manager – Accessories, then moved to Parker Athletic to head up the company’s start-up shin guard program. Jeff has since managed his own companies successfully, bringing new “brands” into the US soccer market – including the well known Select Sport and Sell Goal Keeping Products.
Jim McKeon, Finance and Business Development
Jim brings finance and organizational leadership skills to Primo Sport. His experience with both Wall Street and Main Street has helped him understand the need to manage expectations and then deliver. Most recently, Jim served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Genesis HealthCare Corporation and was instrumental in its solid financial performance culminating in the sale of the business. Before his time with Genesis, Jim spent nine years with KPMG focusing on the healthcare, gaming and banking sectors. Jim also knows the value of giving back and is in a leadership position with the Tug McGraw Foundation. (www.tugmcgraw.org)
Ryan Altenburger, Creative and Industrial Design
Serving as the bridge between the jocks and the nerds, Ryan brings creativity and innovation to our interdisciplinary team. Ryan’s product development and design work have turned heads and gotten rave reviews. To be clear though, he is more on the nerd side than the jock side as he graduated magna cum laude and earned a B.S. in Industrial Design at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Ryan’s goal: continuing to interact with the players on our staff to create better products that will revolutionize the sport.
